Cherry Blossoms

So, it’s that time of year again. When the springtime starts to return to the District, so do a few other things – the countdown to when Spring will give way to crippling heat and humidity,  tourist season, and the Cherry Blossom Festival.  The blossoms typically bloom in late March, but can be later depending on the weather, as is the case with this year.  Finally, after several weeks of anticipation, they’ve bloomed and colored the outline of the Tidal Basin, other areas around the National Mall, and D.C. in general. Making my third trip down to see them after work last night, I instantly dreaded it as I arrived.  Here are a few early shots I was able to snap:
